I opened the site this week to see what a first time visitor actually gets. The answer surprised me, so here's the whole picture.

What Instacognito is today

The name used to mean one thing: look at a story, leave no trace.

Today the plain domain sends you to a profile analyzer. It offers audience splits, follower quality scores, growth charts and a PRO tier.

That's a different product for a different person. A marketer wants it. Someone who just wants to watch one story does not.

Nothing about that is dishonest. The site simply grew into the more profitable half of its own traffic, which most free tools eventually do.

Where the free viewer went

The viewer still exists. It sits on a separate page of the same site, and that page still describes itself as an anonymous viewer and downloader.

So if you loved the old tool, it isn't dead. You just have to click past the analytics page to reach it.
